This is great – my cat has learned that his dry food comes from here so he doesn’t bug us at his dry food feeding times. We do 3 feedings a day (plus a wet, which we do separately) so this lasts two days per filling. We have used this when we’d be away for a while. As suggested by other reviewers, we put an ice pack under the feeder and partially froze the wet food before putting it in, but it worked perfectly.The only thing that bugs me is when you refill it and reset the timer schedule, it cycles all the way through and adds your recording at the end, which I guess is good to know it’s working, but I have to time it with actually giving him food, or it confuses him… Would be nice to have the option just to set it without it cycling through and playing the recording. We’ve been using this for almost two months, and it’s working perfectly.

Bought this when my cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. She needs medication twice a day, and we are gone three days a week. So, I put her pills in Pill Pockets and set this machine to open morning and night for her. I trained her to know that when she hears the mechanism and the little recording, a treat is coming her way! To train her, I set the machine to open each hour for six hours, then moved the time forward after each opening so that it only took about fifteen minutes between openings. After about three times she understood, but I did it six times just to be sure. Then I re-set it properly to open every 12 hours (6 am and 6 pm) for three days. Love that it has six sections. It is the size of a Roomba, but helps that it is too heavy for my cat or dog to toss around. My cat has not broken into it. I don’t put it down when the dog is around. Feeds my cat her medication for up to three days while we are away.

After researching several automatic pet feeders, I settled on the AF108.  I was a little concerned because several reviewers commented that the programming was confusing, and for that reason, I delayed setting it up figuring it would take some time. However, I read through the instructions and was able to program it with no problem and in less than 15 minutes. In fact, I’ve already re-programmed it to add a feeding time. The unit was larger than I expected it to be, but I don’t find that as a problem. It measures 11.5 inches across and approximately 3 inches high. I haven’t had any problems yet with my cat being able to pop open the latch on the top to access the food bins. I like that you can record a message to alert your pet that the food is available. I’ve been careful to not overfill each compartment to avoid problems with the mechanism. I will be using it daily for one feeding during the day when we are at work. I can provide more details as to its reliability after it’s been in use for a while. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase, and I would recommend to anyone with a need to feed a pet while they are away.
